Modernization Vision

The Current Procedural Terminology (CPT) code set maintained by the AMA is the national standard medical language used across all hospitals, insurers, clinicians, and health institutions across the United States. The RUC committee manages tens of thousands of complex procedure reviews annually.

The client’s vision was to modernize their database and application for their core CPT product from a rigid, legacy desktop system to a latest-generation interactive architecture. The objective was to untangle deeply nested data hierarchies, simplify procedural search, and enable committee members to review, vote on, and annotate procedural value recommendations seamlessly.

Human-Centered Design Architecture

01

Domain Discovery

Deconstructing medical coding taxonomies, conducting interviews with AMA committee reviewers, and documenting complex multi-step voting rules.

02

Information Architecture

Restructuring multifaceted data trees into clean modular tables, master-detail views, and collapsible side-panel inspectors in Adobe XD.

03

High-Fidelity Prototyping

Designing precision interactive prototypes with micro-states, filtering matrices, search autocomplete, and custom vector icons in Illustrator.

04

Design System Handoff

Delivering an exhaustive component library, design tokens, responsive typography rules, and interactive walkthroughs for engineering teams.
